Please be advised that returns onto most credit and debit cards are processed at the moment of the transaction, but there may be a delay for the money to post to the account depending on the bank handling the refund. After a refund, please wait a business day and then contact your bank to see when the transaction will post.
Two Ways to Return General Store Merchandise for Refund:
1. Bring your receipt and items with you when next visit us!
2. Return by mail. Find our store address on our front page under "contact us"
How to Return by Mail:
1. Package your items securely.
2. Please include a copy of your confirmation email or order details with your return. If you do not have this information, simply include a note with your name, email address, phone number, and order number. Refunds may be delayed if the return cannot be identified.
3. Return shipping is at your expense. VCB is not liable for lost or damaged packages. Please use a traceable, insured method of shipping when returning your item(s).

With regards to pricing, the Village Commons Bookstore reserves the right to change prices for products displayed at/on our Online Website at any time, and to correct pricing errors that may inadvertently occur.
We make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the pricing and listings.
Textbook orders will be calculated at the price you select as well as all NEW books as we cannot gaurantee the availability of used books.

To prevent any unnecessary delays processing your order, please ensure that the billing addresses on your order matches the information on your credit card account. If you have recently moved or are unsure whether you receive your credit card statement at your work or home address, please contact your card-issuing bank using the 800 number on the back of your credit card to confirm.Order Acceptance/Confirmation For Online Purchases
Once we receive your order, we’ll provide you with an email order confirmation. Your receipt of an order confirmation, however, does not signify the Village Commons Bookstore's acceptance of your order, nor does it constitute confirmation of our offer to sell; we are simply confirming that we received your order. The Village Commons Bookstore reserves the right at any time after receiving your order to accept or decline your order for any reason. If the Village Commons Bookstore cancel an order after you have already been billed, then we will refund the billed amount minus any potential nonrefundable expenses.Shipping & Delivery
The shipping prices we show on our checkout is only an estimation based on the base price of the item that is being shipped out. We don't know an exact price for shipping until we take your items weight, the location to which it is going, the shipping method selected, and then set the shipping costs to within $.50. Since the actual delivery of your order can be impacted by many events beyond our control once it leaves our facilities, we can not be hald liable for lage deliveries. We will, however work with you to ensure a smooth delivery.
In-Store Pickup and Returns
The Village Commons Bookstore offers in-store pickup of our items ordered on the Online Store. Certain products and payment methods, however, require an in-store pickup such as books and supplies order with an NIU One Financial Aid card purchase.
- Credit/Debit Card Purchases: Only you or a person you designated by you at the time of checkout may pick up the items purchased, and you must present a government-issued photo ID.
- One Card Purchases: only you are the person that may pickup the purchase, and you must present a government-issued photo ID or your NIU One Card.
The Village Commons Bookstore will notify you when your order has been processed. At this point your order is ready to be picked up.
Any order not picked up within 90 days for it being processed will be considered abandoned. All items that are abandoned will be disposed of at the discretion of the VCB.
If you select in-store pickup, you may designate a third party to pick up your order. You must provide the name of the third party. Please note that certain products and payment methods are not eligible for in-store pickup by a third party. The third party will need to bring a government issued photo ID for pickup. The Village Commons Bookstore is not responsible for actions taken by the third party once your item(s) have been picked up.
The Village Commons Bookstore sells and ships to end-user customers only. You may not purchase products at the Village Commons Bookstore for resale, and we reserve the right to refuse or cancel your order if we suspect you are doing so.
Product Availability and Limitations
The Village Commons Bookstore can not gurantee the supply of all of our products. Given the popularity or supply constraints of getting new product in, the Village Commons Bookstore may have to limit the number of products available for purchase. Trust us, we will get them in as fast as we can so we can get it to you as fast as we can. We reserve the right to change quantities abailable for purchase at any time, even after you place an order.
Furthermore, there may be occasions when we confirm and order but subsequently learn that we cannot supply the ordered product.In the event we cannot supply a product you ordered, we will make a reasonable attempt to contact you to determine if you would like to make a substitution, wait for the next shipment, or cancel the order.
For any pre-orders place we will not be making contact as the order was placed while the items are already being waited upon.
In accordance with state and local law, your purchases will be taxed using the applicable sales tax or seller's use tax for your shipping address, the Village Commons Bookstore address for a pickup, or the billing address for the card used.
The tax listed during checkout is only an estimate. Your invoice will reflect the final total tax.
The Village Commons Bookstore does offer special pricing on select items in the store such as software to students and teachers. If you are a student or a teacher you will have to verify your status either instore, through the products own verification page, or make arrangements by calling us at our store location during business hours.
From time to time we will offer promotions and sales on our products. These prices are usually applied at the time of purchase in store or at the time the order is processed for online orders. There are no rain checks for promotions or sales.
To handle your online orders we do have to collect some personal information from you. This personal information is used so as to be able to contact you about your order and to send you your order is being shipped. From time to time, we may use your contact information to send you an important notice. We may use your personal information for internal purposes such as auditing and data analysis.
If you enter into a contest or similar promotion, we may use the information you provide to administer those programs.
By using our site, you acknowledge and agree that Internet transmissions are never completely private or secure. You understand that any message or information you send to our site may be read or intercepted by others, even if there is a special notice that a particulate transmissions (for example, credit care information) is encrypted.
We realize there is a "parking problem" on the NIU campus. Thankfully, we are now in a position to be part of the solution. We are NOW RENTING PARKING PERMITS on a per Semester basis. Please inquire within the store.
However, we must enforce a strict parking policy in order to reserve spaces for our customers who shop in the Village Commons.
If you are seen crossing the street(for any reason), or exiting one of the businesses in our complex, and then going across the street(for any reason) YOU WILL BE TOWED AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE!
We appreciate the fact that you buy from the businesses in the Village Commons Complex. But your purchase does not entitle you to a parking space while you attend class. If we allowed this our collective businesses would be restricted to "walk ins".Questions? Please contact us at:
